OS X is dead, long live macOS… Sort of

You may have heard. You may have not. But Apple are ending their "OS X" (or OS 10) brand and replacing it with macOS... X. Officially; "OS X" is "Mac OS X". I'm not sure what removing the space and making the first M lowercase changes, but it's supposed to be exciting! macOS X Sierra, the successor to OS X El Capitan is set for release in Autumn this year. But what's so unique about this release? Siri! (Yes. That annoying thing that talks to you, when accidentally launched by holding dow...

Discontinued Support for “Windows Essentials” (inc. Live Mail)

Windows Essentials, also known as Microsoft Essentials, Windows Live, or just Live is the Software bundle Microsoft offers Windows users. The bundle includes Messenger (a now extinct program that was replaced by Skype®), OneDrive (which is pre-installed in Windows 10 anyway), Movie Maker, Photo Gallery, and Live Mail. As explained above - 2 of the programs in the bundle are already obsolete! If I remember correctly; you can't even sign into the Messenger application with valid credentia...

Apple Pay

Apple Pay has now arrived in the UK. Will I be using it? Apple Pay is a new system devised by Apple to pay for the purchase of good or services on-line or in store. So instead of fumbling in pockets, wallets or handbags for cash or a piece of plastic you can now make your purchase using an iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus or Apple Watch. I currently use an iPhone 5s and do not have an Apple Watch. This means I will not have the ability to make instore purchases. I will, though, be able to make on l...
